I’m a baker. Besides the goodies that I have prepared for my human family, I have been baking gluten free doggy treats. Our dog loves her home baked snacks.
Gluten Free Dog Bones:
Ingredients and instructions: 1. In a Large bowl: Wisk 2 c Brown Rice Flour with 2 tsp baking soda. Set aside. 2. In a large frying pan, Fry 1/4 lb bacon until fully browned. Take the bacon out of the pan and place on paper towels to dry. Keep 1/8th cup bacon fat. When dry, break the bacon into crumbles. Set aside. 3. Whip 1 egg. Set aside. 4. Measure 1/8 c. olive oil. Set aside. 5. 1 c cooked chicken, mashed up. Set Aside. 5. Use up to 1/4 c. chicken broth for moisture, if needed.
Mix all of the ingredients #2 thru #4 into the Large bowl of Brown Rice Flour and baking soda. Mix to a cookie dough consistency, using chicken broth for moisture.
Place dough in refrigerator for 1 hr. before cutting. Roll out dough between 2 sheets of wax paper; 1/4 inch at its thickest. Cut into squares or use a dog shaped cookie cutter. Place on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
In a convection oven, bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.
Optional: Glaze = 1 Egg mixed with 1/2 cup Ketchup ,mix together and set aside.
Remove the cookie sheets from oven (but keep oven on)…glaze the Biscuits using a brush (one side only). Place the cookie sheets back in the oven for 10 minutes or until the glaze appears to be dried.
Reduce the convection oven to 100. Leave in oven until the biscuits are good and dry. Sometimes I simply use the dehydration option on my oven for about 2 hours.
Take out of oven. Cool. Serve.
